My goal is to share some form of sketchbook practice with you every week. We will be focused on all kinds of mediums, process and expression some will come along with a quick video and some will just be a few snapshots but each one will just be about getting your sketchbook out and exploring!
This weekend my husband and I took a trip out to the country where is parents live. We brought a car full of art supplies (because I apparently have to pack up my studio and bring it everywhere) and a box of fancy doughnuts for Fathers Day. I love going out to the country even though I live by the park so I have access to nature it still feels like the city. The wide open spaces in the country are so peaceful and its almost like the colors are different out there. They blend on the horizon in a different way and I love the red barns that seam to just sprout from the green fields everywhere.
For this exercise I used my oil pastels, a basic Bic pen and my sketchbook. Check out the video below and join in!
Hope you enjoyed my video and are all excited to get outside and create!
I was personally inspired by this process and continued playing with oil pastel colors and blending after I stopped filming. This is a reminder that just because you stop working on a page in the moment you might decide to pick it up again later and play. Below is my finished page, I added more green, yellow and white.
You can jump over to my FaceBook Group Creative and Caffeinated to share your pages, ideas or thoughts on sketchbooks! Until next time remember to, Enjoy your Creative Journey!!
