Sketchbook Series #4

July 2, 2017

Composition studies are a perfect addition to any sketchbook practice. We will be focusing on creating a series of focal point compositions with a limited color palette.

Quick refresher: A focal point (or center on interest) is the element in a composition that pulls in the viewer's eye. This would be the main subject of your composition, in both figurative or abstract work. You can emphasize a focal point through composition, color, and the range of tones you use.

Since we will be doing this in our sketchbook we will be working on small thumbnails as part of our exploration of creating a focal point. I have included a short supply list and a quick video for you to follow along with.

Supplies:

Sketchbook

1 Color of acrylic paint plus white and black

Pencil or Pen

Paintbrush

I hope you enjoyed this quick sketchbook exercise and I hope are able to find some time to explore its never a to late to start creating and exploring your creative process.

Until next time! Enjoy Your Creative Journey!

XOXO - Tori
