Sketchbook Practice #9

August 6, 2017

I am back for another quick sketchbook series exercise! This week are exploring pattern and repetition, this is one of my favorite elements of art to explore it could fall into line, shape or texture depending on the types of marks you make! So much variety and a personal story and history comes through when you use marks on your work.

Bonus sketchbook practice idea:

Look for marks, textures and lines everywhere in life and bring your sketchbook and fill up a page with your observations. Over time and practice you will have personal library of marks that are all you because you collected them and practiced them through your own experiences.

Supplies:

Your Sketchbook: Mine is a 7x7 Stillman & Birn Mixed Media Delta Series Sketchbook

A Pencil

A Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen (fine Tip)

3 colors of Acrylic Paint ( 2 warm 1 cool color)

Titanium White

Brayer

Round and flat brush

Colored pencil

Check out the video below to see the process I used for this exercise. If you don't have these Golden Brand products on hand no worries feel free to use any white you have!

I hope you enjoyed this quick sketchbook exercise and I hope are able to find some time to explore! It is never a to late to start creating and exploring your creative process.

I would love for you to share your drawing in Instagram #DrawRiotSketchbookSeries or come join my Facebook group Creative & Caffeinated and share your creation there!

Until next time! Enjoy Your Creative Journey!

XOXO - Tori
