June - warmer days and some exploration and travel ahead!
Where are the days and night going? Moments fly by so quickly and it feels like my life is in fast forward so I have working on being more mindful, living in the moment and focusing on the small things help to slow things down. A friend of mine recently posted a quote from Jack London and I think it perfectly sums up the way many of us want to live and is especially perfect as we launch into long summer days!
"I would rather be ashes than dust. I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze, than that it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. I would rather sing one wild song, and burst my heart with it, than live a thousand years, watching my digestion and being afraid of the wet.
The proper function of a man is to live. I shall not waste my days, trying to prolong them. I shall use my time."
- Jack London
Let's all try to take a moment this summer to explore, sketch, draw, doodle, write , play or use whatever creative process and actions inspire you to be a superb meteor in your life. I am just happy in this moment for some sunshine, a cup of coffee and a view of the park from my studio window.

For June I choose the theme Sunshine because when they grey winter skies seem to go on forever I imagine the bright warm sunshine of the summer and long for the way it warms my skin and brightens all of the colors I see. I want to hold onto it and somehow once I have it I don't cherish it as much as I would like so I am going to spend the month of June enjoying everything sunshine.
Remember to let yourself explore and challenge yourself to not only create every day but experiment with your supplies and your process. Part of being an artist is just making art not everything has to be "beautiful", "perfect" or "art" the process is justas important if not more important than the product!
